Obbligato Music
Studio Terms of Service

These Studio Terms of Service (“Terms”) outline the policies, expectations, and practices of Obbligato Music. Enrollment in any Obbligato Music program constitutes agreement to these Terms.

Obbligato Music is a membership-based piano atelier offering semi-private, communal learning experiences designed to support consistency, creativity, and joy in music-making. These Terms include policies for both membership-based programs and private instruction. Not all sections apply to all students.

Membership Structure

Piano Playground and Key Club operate as monthly memberships, not individual lessons.

Tuition reserves a seat within a recurring studio experience rather than guaranteeing attendance at specific sessions. Membership includes access to scheduled sessions, studio materials, rituals, and community offerings associated with the program.

Membership benefits are not tied to perfect attendance and are not prorated for missed sessions.

Tuition and Billing

Tuition is billed monthly through MyMusicStaff and is set to auto-pay. All tuition payments are final. Obbligato Music does not offer refunds or retroactive adjustments.

Billing occurs on the first of each month unless otherwise specified. Membership remains active unless written notice of withdrawal is provided in accordance with these Terms.

Late or failed payments may result in temporary suspension of participation until resolved.

Attendance, Makeups, and Flexible Scheduling

Obbligato Music’s flexible scheduling model is a defining feature of the studio and sets it apart from traditional lesson-based programs.

If a member is unable to attend a scheduled Piano Playground or Key Club session, they may schedule a makeup session as space allows or offer their reserved seat to a friend. Advance notice is appreciated but not required for routine absences.

In the event of weather-related studio closures, affected members will receive a makeup credit. Makeup credits may be used toward available sessions.

Makeup credits are the sole responsibility of the member to track and schedule. Credits may be redeemed only as space allows and are not guaranteed for a specific class, date, or teacher. Makeup credits expire upon termination of membership and are not redeemable for cash or refunds.

Calendar and Studio Closures

Obbligato Music publishes an annual studio calendar in advance. The calendar includes planned breaks, holidays, and studio closures.

Membership tuition reflects the full season and is not adjusted for studio holidays or scheduled closures.

Communication

Official studio communication occurs via email and/or MyMusicStaff.

Members can expect responses within 24–48 business hours. Text messaging and social media messaging are not used for official studio matters.

Routine absences do not require explanation.

Studio Culture and Conduct

Obbligato Music is committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Members are expected to treat faculty, staff, and fellow participants with courtesy and respect. Disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behavior may result in intervention or, in rare cases, termination of membership.

Obbligato Music reserves the right to discontinue membership if studio culture or safety is compromised.

Image, Media, and Name Release

Obbligato Music periodically photographs and records video and audio during Piano Playground, Key Club, and private lesson sessions for educational, archival, and promotional purposes.

By enrolling, members or parents/guardians of minor participants grant Obbligato Music the irrevocable and perpetual right to use photographs, video recordings, and audio recordings that may include the member or their child across all current and future media formats. This may include use in marketing and promotional materials, websites and social media, newsletters and studio communications, and educational, training, or archival materials.

Images and recordings will be used respectfully and in alignment with the values and culture of Obbligato Music.

Obbligato Music may occasionally publish first names in connection with studio recognition or celebration, such as Student of the Month acknowledgments or internal studio highlights. Full names will not be published publicly without additional permission.

This release applies to media captured during regular sessions, events, and studio activities and remains in effect indefinitely, including after enrollment or membership has ended.

Members who prefer not to be photographed, recorded, or named may notify the studio in writing. Reasonable accommodations will be made when possible; however, participation in group sessions may limit the ability to guarantee exclusion from all media.

Withdrawal and Cancellation for Membership Programs

Membership operates on a monthly auto-renewal basis, with billing occurring on the first of each month.

To prevent renewal for the upcoming month, written notice of withdrawal must be received at least five days prior to the billing date. Notice must be submitted via email to the studio.

Membership fees are not refundable and are not retroactively adjusted. Makeup credits expire upon termination of membership.

Private Instruction (Non-Membership)

Private lessons at Obbligato Music operate separately from Piano Playground and Key Club and are not part of the membership model.

Private instruction is billed monthly through MyMusicStaff. Monthly tuition reserves a specific weekly lesson time and instructor availability and is not prorated for missed lessons.

Advance notice is requested for absences. If a private student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, they may choose one of the following options: schedule a makeup lesson as availability allows, offer their reserved lesson to a friend, or request a recorded video lesson in their absence.

Video lessons are recorded by the instructor and provided to the student as a reference resource. Recordings are theirs to keep.

Makeup lessons are subject to instructor availability and are not guaranteed for a specific date or time.

Private lessons require thirty days’ written notice to discontinue or release a reserved lesson time. Notice must be submitted via email to the studio. Tuition is not refundable and is not retroactively adjusted.

Students enrolled in private instruction are responsible for adhering to the policies specific to their program.

Faculty and Substitutions

Obbligato Music reserves the right to assign instructors and to provide qualified substitute teachers as needed due to scheduling, illness, training, travel, or other circumstances.

Tuition and enrollment are tied to participation in the program and studio experience, not to a specific instructor. All instructors and substitutes are selected to align with Obbligato Music’s teaching philosophy, standards, and studio culture.

Assumption of Risk

Participation in Piano Playground, Key Club, and private instruction may involve ordinary physical movement, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, stretching, and playing instruments.

By enrolling, members or parents/guardians of minor participants acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with participation in studio activities and agree to release and hold harmless Obbligato Music, its faculty, and staff from liability for minor injuries incurred during normal studio activities. This provision does not apply to gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Events Beyond Our Control

Obbligato Music is not responsible for disruptions, cancellations, or modifications to programming caused by events beyond its reasonable control. These may include severe weather, power outages, facility issues, public health directives, or government-mandated closures.

In such cases, tuition will not be refunded. Where possible, reasonable accommodations such as makeup credits or schedule adjustments may be offered at the studio’s discretion.

Policy Updates

Obbligato Music may update these Terms periodically to reflect the evolving needs of the studio. Members will be notified of material changes.

Final Note

Obbligato Music exists to build sustainable, joyful music habits within a thoughtful community. These policies are designed to support clarity, fairness, and continuity for all members while allowing the studio to grow with integrity.
